Today Mainconcept Reference can encode to MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4 ASP, H.264, VC-1, etc.

Mainconcept is a suite of encoders (codecs) implemented in pieces in various applications.

H.264 is a standard and has many implentations. The free one is x264.

You need to state the program you are using to know the Mainconcept version being used.

For example, in Vegas, the Sony AVC codec is used for high quality and a Mainconcept implementation is used for high compression.

Note that I've seen this person -- and his crap -- several times this year. It's always bumping ancient encoding-related posts with stupid questions -- especially given the spammed link proclaiming expertise in encoding. It's some crank from India or Pakistan.
