how to encode back the video to orginal video?

if i add filters if i save the video then video codec of output file is changes.
then how to encode back the output video to input(orginal) video?

sorry for not posting enough info.

i want to add subtitles(filter) to avi container consists of mpeg-4/h.264 avc,
if i selected output codec as mpeg-4(xvid).
i am using avidemux software to add subtitles.

then how to convert mpeg-4(xvid) back to mpeg-4/h.264 avc.
