I am new the svcd burning scene, and have some newbie questions. I have spent the last week reading this website and fourm but haven’t found any concrete answers yet.. so hopefully some of you more experienced folk will have some opinions on my problem

The issue is, I cannot seem to make satisfactory copies of an svcd that I have…

I have 2 workstations with burners in them.

1) P3 800/512mbs ram, with a scsi subsystem, including an older plextor cdr412 running Windows 2000.

2) HP Pavilion laptop – amd mobile 4 900/256 mbs – matshita ujda710 running windows xp pro

System #1 has no problems duplicating svcds with Adaptecs Easy CD Creator 4.5’s disc copying tool. A few discs needed to have the speed tuned down to 2x, but so far all the copies (about 10 discs so far) have been flawless.

However

System #2 has yet to reproduce an svcd copy that is free of jitters and pixilation. I have tried using several methods to copy the original…

a) Nero – created a nero cd image and tried to burn it
b) Nero – loaded the mpeg from the original and tried to remaster a new svcd project
c) CD Record – (the build in cd recording tool from hp) tried to use its copy tool

All of these burns were attempted at the lowest speed allowed (2x).

The media I am using is TDK 80min CDs (bought from Costco), although I have a variety of other CDs that produce the same results on system 2. System 1 makes great copies off all the media I have tried.

I guess I am looking for some opinion as to the source of the problem. Ala, is it the machine specs? The XP o/s? the media I am using? The software? Or burner itself?.

If I could get vcdeasy to work (cdrdao doesn’t want to work yet), would that possible provide better results?

It will be awhile before I invest in a newer/more capable CD/DVD burner, and in the meantime I would love to get better results out of this unit.. any help is greatly appreciated..

Thanks in advance.
