I've encoded lots of DivX-files to SVCD without a problem, but on the last file I encountered the following.

When I play the .avi audio and video are in sync. When I convert to svcd the resulting mpeg file has a sync problem, audio is about 0.5 seconds ahaed of video. The sync-problem is non-progressive (remains approx. .5 secs during the movie). I tried with Virtualdub/Avisynth/CCE/TMPGEnc, the problem is always the same.

When I analysed the wav (extracted with Virtualdub) I found that the .wav is .6 seconds shorter than the video!. I inserted .6 seconds of silence at the beginning of the .wav, muxed and the resulting mpeg is fine..

My questions: why is this audio file shorter than the video file, and how can I encode this .avi without having to insert silence ?

  2. You can easily re-align the audio in TMPGEnc.
