  1. Hi folks,I want to start ripping dvd"s to make vcd"s,svcd"s ect,and I think I have everything I need(dvd-rom,cd-rw,800mhz,384mb-ram,40gb hd).
but I am having "MAJOR" problems.when I start ripping It un-locks the drive and starts to extract vob.files, but stops in a couple of minutes with a "blue screen" error,"CAN"T WRITE TO DRIVE "C" DATA OR FILES MAY BE LOST" I thought I had a hard drive problem and got a replacement computer(under warrenty),and I still get the same error, and this error seems to do extencive damage to the computer"s,both computers don"t work anymore,I even brought back my dvd-rom and got a new one with no help, now i"m sitting here with my second busted computer with my "3rd" one being sent to me...can some one please help?has any one had this problem before?I need some help cuz I don"t think they will send me my 4th computer .lol.any help would be great...thanx

PS:I have tried "smartripper"clad dvd xp,and dvd decrypter(wouldn"t work at all).

  2. assuming u did everything by procedure (i.e. playing the DVD on winDVD/powerDVD before you start ripping)

it could be an aspi problem, i'm not too familar with it because i've never had to deal with such issues...but that's what it sounds like

btw...what OS r u using? could it be XP? there could be some aspi problems with XP......perhaps you don't have your DVD-ROM's DMA enabled....

I started having problems just like you described on my 80 G Maxtor 5400rpm after the disk became over 80% full. Sometimes doing a defrag would clean it up enough to rip to it. On other occasions I have had to move everything to another drive, format the drive and move everything back.

  6. If your using XP then it is more likely an XP - software - hardware compatibility problem.

Try using Windows 2000 Pro with SP2, NTFS disk format. This is a known good configuration for what you are trying to achieve.

You must have a very understanding computer supplier
