Looks like they had some issues getting the forums merged and everything set up, but the new website is finally live and the Lightworks release is finally here.

Lots of changes, lots of additions. There is still a free version, but if you are trying to use this professionally then you should probably just opt for the $60 a year version and maybe also the pay one time for Avid DNxHD support. No it did not go open source yet, no the Mac version is not out, no the Linux version is not out. They did show an early in house Alpha of the Linux version at NAB, so it is getting closer, but no wider Alpha or Beta of the Linux version so far.
The site seems a little slow, they may still be working on stuff so give it a chance to finish.

Hope is the trap the world sets for you every night when you go to sleep and the only reason you have to get up in the morning is the hope that this day, things will get better... But they never do, do they?

THey have failed with the registration so you can't download anything.

Baldrick,
I didn't have any problems last night or just now, but I already had an account so all I needed to do is log in. Can you get me the exact error and I'll pass it along through the forums or directly to the developers? It might have also been the extremely high load on the servers, even just now it is still a little slow. Payments are still a small problem and the Paypal payment somehow got left off. I did manage to download the application last night after a couple of tries, should be around 128MB, anything less and the server load terminated the download.
If I get time tonight I'll sign up for another account with a different email address and see if it lets me through. I do know they have some of the free mail accounts semi-blocked, but an account from videohelp.com (or even VCDhelp.com) shouldn't have been blocked and we would certainly welcome you on the Lightworks forums. We do talk about a lot of other applications and often refer back to here to find the tools.
And before someone thinks I have some kind of connection with Editshare, I do not, but I'll attempt to help people at least get an account built so they can get into the forums to bring up problems. If we expect large numbers of issues we should probably start a thread somewhere else that will be easy to find and drop a link in this NEWS thread.Hope is the trap the world sets for you every night when you go to sleep and the only reason you have to get up in the morning is the hope that this day, things will get better... If it's that difficult to even get a trial version, it sounds like it's still Not Ready For Prime Time...

GREAT! I just checked it with a yahoo account and it worked fine, I think a lot of things fall down when they are under heavy load. This happened last time one of the popular sites ran an article about it, they were hammered for a couple days and many things did not work.
Not exactly a fair statement, same thing happens when I try to download the latest major Avid upgrades on the first day they are available.Hope is the trap the world sets for you every night when you go to sleep and the only reason you have to get up in the morning is the hope that this day, things will get better...
