  1. Trust me, I've searched high and low on my own for answers.

Having issues with my Dazzle DVC 90 capture device. I am capturing video only, no audio.

I am running Windows 7 on a laptop PC with an AMD Turion 64 X2 2.00 GHz processor, 2.00 GB (1.62 usable) RAM, WD 250 GB HDD.
It is an older laptop, but still works very well.

I am having issues with the capture card, I get freezing images, jittery video, and multicolored lines (sometimes just green).
I first used it with CyberLink Power Director 9.
Then with VirtualDub, also running the huffyuv 2.1.1 compression plugin, and Smart Deinterlacing Filter 2.8, as per a DVC 90 setup tutorial provided by a user at thehaloforum

I've tried updating the drivers, windows says they're fine, I found some vista driver updates for it and manually installed them, though the driver versions did not seem to change. There are no win7 drivers.

    Support from manufacturer is nil.

I try to capture after a cold boot (PC off overnight), I close all unnecessary background programs and processes via task manager, antivirus is completely disabled, my pc is in the garage which is around 68-70 degrees, maybe less, in the mornings (when i try to capture) so heat should not be an issue. I also capture with the preview option off. Still I have choppy unusable video with lines in it.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, I'll try anything. I understand the best course of action would be to invest in a better capture card. However, at the moment, that is not an option for me.

    Thank you for your time,
    CFG

If this is in the wrong area, I apologize, I am still new to these forums (first post).

'Choppy' video could be all sorts of things.

Take a sample of your capture and upload it here so that we can have a look at it.

Are you attempting to de-interlace when you capture ? Not a good idea as this puts a large demand on resources and could even be one reason for this 'choppyness'

    Why are you deinterlacing?
