  1. Just wanted to get everyone's opinions/experience on which is the best apex player since I'm seriously considering getting one to view s(vcd)s. I'm thinking about the 1100w.

  3. I've got a ad-3201 model. It works great for vcd svcd. No problems reading cdr's or cdrw's. It also reads overburned cdr's as well

  5. Apex are good but if you want a player that plays everything and has great quality get a Daewoo 5700 for $89 at Sams it plays

DVD, CD, VCD, XVCD, SVCD. XSVCD, CD-R, CD-RW, MP3

I have played SVCD with bitrates from 1600 to 6000 on this player, the apex's start to choke at 3500 to 4000.
Plus the daewoo will run circles around any Apex in Picture detail.

  6. I'm having serious problems getting the 1100w that I bought last night to play burned VCDs, but I think the problem may just be that I'm a tard...

  7. The APEX 1100w should play everything. I have captured up to 7000 on the ATI AIW Radeon (although not constant) and when I burn it as an XSVCD is works everytime.

The DAEWOO 5700 is also good for the money.

  9. So far my APEX AD-500W has played everything I've thrown at it. It claims DVD, VCD, SVCD, CDR, CDRW, and MP3. I have played SVCD's and VCD's created with CBR and VBR and no problems so far. Plus I'm really fond of the magic firmware I found for it.

The Apex 1500 also plays DVD-R AND jpegs burned to CD-R.

You can burn all your jpegs to CD-R and the 1500 will play them as a slide show, adding wipes between the slides. You can also display them in a browser and look at them one at a time.

    $69 at Circuit City.

Long time reader, first time poster.
I too have to sing the praises of the Apex AD1500.
It's the most inexpensive machine I've seen, yet it delivers.
It has played every SVCD I've put in there, and I couldn't be happier.
Actually, I only decided to purchase that player after having first consulted this site and read the numerous positive reviews.
This site is the best for quick, at-a-glance information.
    Thanks.
