You use dvd architect pro for blu-ray authoring but it should be included in the full version of vegas.

I use Corel Videostudio PRO X4 for my video editing. Then, one day I downloaded Vegas Movie Studio 11 Platinum and tried it out. The level of complexity between the two is enormous. Things that are easily done in Corel are more envolved in Vegas. Moving around with a storyboard editor, in Corel, is a simple matter. When you only have a timeline (Vegas,) it's a bitch to locate and move around efficiently with 50 to 60 clips or more. You must edit in small packets.
Also, in rendering, I was in for a big surprise-few talk about this. The author of "101 Tips, Tricks and Techniques," Bill Myers substantiated what I found out through experience. A one hour video, with many effects, can take over five hours to render in Vegas. I hate to think how long my European Trip Video, of over two hours, would have taken-over night to be sure. Apparently, Vegas lovers are not bothered by this fact. So, rendering and fexibility of movement are Vegas shortfalls to me.
Now that I mentioned the bad, here is the good. Vegas is extremely powerful in motion video, color correction and chroma key. It blows Corel away, to mention only these few things of which there are more. It takes a steep learning curve but, it is well worth the effort. "Nothing good of consequence is ever accomplished without exertion." So, I use Vegas for clip editing and effects and then put clips into Corel for quick rendering and flexibility. I take the best from both and with excellent result My videos produced by Corel are vivid, rich in color and clarity that I don't think waiting an extra four hours, or more, can noticeably improve upon.

Sony vegas 11 = Yes for your needs

As for tile ... Not everything

As for those that whine about time taken to render ... simple edits are easy but if you do more of course it'll take longer ... go buy a faster computer or find another hobby.

As for the timeline in vegas ... for myself even with many clips its easy to manage and navigate ... part of the "story board" process includes "clip" time location placement marks ... makes it very quick to navigate to any clip associated within any project ... some just don't bother to see this as an important step especially in complex projects.

Yes, Corel does an excellent job with Blu Ray. That's what I use it for-to create a video file which I then finish with Tsmuxer and Imgburn. As for speed I have one of the fastest computers-Sandy Bridge with 16 gig of ram. Vegas is too slow for me. If you want to watch a couple of football games while you wait, then use Vegas. God help you if there is a gitch and you need a redo! The Corel produced quality is excellent. Vegas is an essential program but, not the only one to use. The Mercalli Stabilizer in Corel is one of the best. In this business one must be ecletic and not narrow minded. To each his own.

  9. Will Vegas 11 do the menus if you're creating a blu-ray disc from .ts or m2ts files?

Nevermind I found the answer which appears to be yes.

    Thanks

I see Corel can do 2D->3D, can it also edit 3D video? I know Magix can.
    MKV: Merely Krappy Video.

Subbers, a request from an avid viewer: Either don't use mkv, or supply avi or mp4 as an alternative.

I create an m2t file using Corel. Then I use TSMuxer (must change ext to m2ts for TSMuxer) and Imgburn to finish the job. If I want menus, I use TmpGenc Authoring Works 4.

Agree, my vegas takes only 15 minutes to render 90 minutes of video, and that's with a good twin core dell.

Sounds like you're using an old single core.
