I was using handbrake to compress an anime episode and make the subtitles hardsubbed. I'm pretty new in the program, but what I just did was just changing the subtitle tab. I used an SSA file and I wanted the subtitles to be Hardsubbed so I clicked the box on top of "Burned in" since I read an article about if wanted to be hardsubbed, click "Burned In".
But after encoding, everything was fine but there was some kind of problem in the subtitles. The subtitles were replaced by oddly looking rectangular shapes like the subtitles was censored or something.
I tried to convert it as MP4 instead, but still the same thing happened.
Please help me with this problem.
