For whatever reason, when I import this specific video I want to edit, there is no audio line and the audio is instead incorporated into the video (or is hidden I dunno). This doesn't matter as I wish to mute the video because I'm making muted trailers. But I don't really know how to mute the video. I want to make sure the actual video is muted even after the project is rendered, because when I took advice on how to mute it the person's explanation only muted it during the editting process but not the final product.

If you open a video in your editor and delete the audio line completely...then you should have no audio when you render the trailer. If you want an audio line but no sound, then replace it with 'silence' track.
If they don't work then at least let us know which editor you are using.
Edit: If your editor doesn't support the creation of a silence track then simplest way to create one is to open Audacity, click 'Generate' in the menu, click 'Silence' and either set the length to the trailer's or save the file and edit the length in your editor.
What does MediaInfo reveal about the specific file?Last edited by transporterfan; 24th Mar 2012 at 18:55.

Its Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5
To reiterate, the video isn't coming with an audio track when I put it onto the timeline yet audio is still generating from the video and I want that muted both through editting and in the final rendered product.
EDIT: Important:: I AM using an audio track so I don't want the actual final product fully muted, only this video that seems to have fused invisable audio -
What type of video file is it?
More than likely you will have to demux it to seperate the video from the audio and then remove the audio from it.

Okay but then HOW do I do all this stuff? The audio track is invisable, whatever, what program do I use to 'demux' it as you say??
I have a deadline and this stupid problem has already killed 2 days -
Try tsMuxer first. If you don't post the MediaInfo log, then how can anyone tell? It might be something obscure, like 8 channel sound.
Demux the file into seperate video and audio components and load the sound into Audacity. Export it to .wav file and try again, remembering to tell Premier Pro to use the new sound file.
Some help here:

It won't load into either, and the sound is simple mp3!! the internet hates me

Will really be able to help you better if you can tell us the file type, ie.; wmv, mpg, mp2, avi -which flavor?, mp4 -which flavor, etc.

Is the extension of the video .avi?
If it is try to use Virtualdub and see if it will open. If it does open, then you can use Virtualdub to demux it.
In Virtualdub under the Audio tab select "No audio". Under the video tab select " Direct stream copy" Under file "Save as avi"
If this does not work then post a screen shoot of MediaInfo. -
We need to see more details of the video. Change the view to "Text" and post the entire thing.
From what you posted it looks to me like an avi and Virtualdub should have opened it. You may just have a messed up video. -

"wrong decompression" is it saying this when you open it or when you try to save it?
Are you sure that there is NO audio track in Adobe Premiere Pro showing up? Make sure you scroll up and down on the track listing in Adobe Premiere Pro to make sure it is not there somewhere.
Something is not making sense here. I am thinking that the video file is faulty.
Is there anyway you could upload the video so I can look at it myself.

Okay The problem has been sorted I umm....didn't check ALL the audio layers....turned out it was at the very bottom...eheheheheh....oops?
