  1. I want to make a VCD sideshow, does Nero Max support this function from jpg images? I would like to drag & drop a folder of images and record them to a VCD, sound is not important to me. I can make nice VCD's, but it seems to get quality resolution you have to have access to a PC as well as a Mac. For creation of a slide show I am using flash and saving a group of images as a mov. file, converting my mov file to an avi. next I transfer the avi to a PC and run it through TMPEG, transfer that file back to the Mac & burn w/ Toast Titanium. I know I could use imovie and save my file directly to toast, but the image quality (resolution) is so much better jumping through the hoops. The problem is the file size of the avi file, and the fact that I am not networked with the PC. It seems crazy that I can't dump a folder full of 900k jpg images into some application on the Mac & burn a VCD with resolution better than 320x240. I'm not looking for much. speed, quality,& simplicity.

I tried to import a JPEG into NeroMAX, in the wizard it didn't accept it. But if you drop it into the normal window, it selects VCD itself instead of "files and folders" so I'm not sure. I haven't tried to burn it. So I don't know about the resolution. (neromax doesn't let you save it as an image file..).

  3. The specifications say you can make a STANDARD VCD 2.0 playable on any VCD player, feeding FULL size pictures at 740x576 to your screen, in still mode. This is included in the VCD2.0 standard. Following the specifications you can include up to 1980 hi-res pictures in a single VCD. They're coded as MPG intra pictures in still mode, with timing information.

However there is no software on mac to do it, excepted VCD Maker Pro which is almost impossible to find. But it must be possible to do it on emulated PC; i have still the find the correct software, I suspect WinOnCD3.8 can do it but I've not tested still and I'm not sure.

Again this is not converting JPGs to some small video files and burning as standard VCD or SVCD or DVD. This is using the not-so-well-known still picture feature of the VCD2.0 standard.
