New comp, no fire wire. Pls advice

My new computer has no fire wire connection. I bought new USB HD camcorder, but I'd like to use my old SD as well. My old Sony cam has only fire wire connection. I bought fire wire to usb cabel, but looks like my computer doesn't detect my old cam.
How to make it work?

Put a firewire card in the computer.....they are cheap.
