  1. hi...

i have a problem finding a way to affect my text with an electric bolt for example check this photo:-

you see how the female splicer is surrounded by an electric bolt and the electricity is all around her? that's what i want my text to look like...

any idea how to do that?

also i'm using sony vegas 11 and i know my way around it...

    thanx.

  2. Is your question more about lightning effect, or how it surrounds objects, or both ?

You can do lighting text in Vegas alone, but it's very cheesy. (just search youtube). Most people would resort to something else like After Effects. There might be some 3rd party plugins you could use for vegas

Vegas is a 2D application, not a 3D application, so in order to get an effect to "surround" an object you need to "fake" it by compositing it in layers - stuff behind objects, stuff in front of objects in the layer order

Unless you're going for a fake cartoony effect, to add more realism, you need interaction with the environment - e.g. area surrounding lighting lights up, glows in proportion to the strength of lighting (flicker), shadows are casted on objects in proportion to the intensity,. etc... This is harder to do in vegas than other programs

Well, I see a lot of cheesy AE stuff on YT too. I heard AE is only 2.5 D.
