  1. Every time I record in 480p my capture card(component cables) seems to try to deinterlace it(or something?). When this happens, it results in flickering edges, kind of like aliasing. I'll provide a an example to show you what I;m talking about. Also, I've ran this through MeGUI and it says it's a progressive source. It might have something to do with my capture card converting a 480p signal to serial digital, which it shouldn't be doing but if I can fix this after capturing I'm good. I record with HUFFYUV as well.

Pay attention to the edges of the video(ESPECIALLY the name above the head, it's flickering madness lol). If you need better examples I'll provide them.

Whats capture card? Whats program use to capture?

Strange because my 480p captures are 59.94 or 60 fps, never 29.97 or 30 fps.

Also what is the source format? True 480p/60? Or a 30p camera format? Does the capture card support 30p?

doesn't even look like a capture problem to me. more like low-res game console output.

  5. Thanks for the replies, I use this capture card http://image.ec21.com/image/videoware/oimg_GC01203241_CA05625112/USB_2_0_HD_AV_Grabber_YPBPR.jpg

I record with Virtualdub and the device supports 480p because I set my console to 480p(PS3) when playing. It's a weird problem and a weird capture device I know lol, I jut want to see if I can get this thing working properly before a new capture card (probably an HD PVR).

EDIT: Is there anyway I can tell if it's being deinterlaced or not?

    Hi MrBlack

Its like ROXIO GAME CAPTURE (480p or 576p in 30/25 fps only).

To make a great capture make this:

    - Record in 480i (Set your PS3 to 480i)
    - Use UT Video Codec or Lagarith or Huffyuv codec in YUY2 mode.
    - Use YADIF BOB deinterlaced (its will make a 60/50 fps file)

Have a very nice file looks like real PS3.

I make this on my RGC, the diference is abissal.

Ha yeah it is! It's actually a newer chipset than Roxio. Funny thing is, I've have done all of the above before(I've been doing that for the past year with my old capture card ). Yeah I don't like YADIF because it leaves too much color ghosting for me. I want to use QTGMC but it takes WAY too long. But still, it would be nice to play in 480p and record. I'm trying to eliminate the use of deinterlacing because upsclaling afterwards is a pain, whereas recording in 480p it upscales just fine.

"YADIF ghosting problem" is fixed if capture in YUY2 mode.

To record/play/preview in full 480p buy AVERTVHD, BMI or COLOSSUS.

No problem upscale video after deinterlaced use SPLINE64 resize.

    480p@30 <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< 480i@480p via yadif bob mode.

I have it set to YUY2 when I capture, have no clue why it says that.

    @Cauptain Alright I'll try Spline64.

Its normal in HUFFYUV codec. no problem.
