  1. When ripping a DVD some of the movies turn out full screen and not widescreen as I would like it to be. Is there some setting I'm missing? What should I be choosing to rip the Widescreen version of the movie.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have a look few posts below, folks are discussing the subject.
I have a 16:9 TV set and I am usind DVDx + TMPEGenc, when I set all the options in TMPEGenc as 16:9 + full screen I get, well, full screen movie (no bars at the top/bottom) which looks great on 16:9 big screen. If I leave a default VCD template of TMPEGenc (which is 4:3 for PAL) I get a widescreen (with bars) output and the aspect ratio is kept ok.

Some DVDs of movies (especially if they are less than 2 hours) have both the 4:3 and the 16:9 versions on them. Look on the original box for this info (depending on the type of DVD used, ie, dual layer or double sided, this may NOT be a menu option), or even the DVD itself.

Use the latest IFOEDIT (which now has a PLAY DVD function) to see which .VOB has the version that you want to rip. The two versions will probably have either a "VTS_01_X.VOB" or a "VTS_02_X.VOB" type of program chain (unless the DVD is double sided, in which case they both will probably be VTS_01_X.VOB). Make a note of which one you want and tell Smartripper to fetch that one.

To double check your selection, double click on your ripped .VOB (anyone will do) and verify that this is the version that you want.

    Simple... correct?
