  1. I need to know what files are need for DVD2SVCD to finish the mpg after it has ripped the original vob files. I keep running into errors cuz of lack o space. once the files have been ripped from the vob files I need to move the vobs to my other puter so I have enough space to do the rest of the encoding etc. I am thinking it's like the ac3 file and the cce encoded to ntsc file anyoothers? thanks for any help

  2. Sorry you need to keep the VOB files. Here's how it works:

    1) Rip DVD to HD to generate VOB files
    2) Run DVD2AVI to generate D2V file. This is a small (check the size) file that is linked to the VOB files. In fact it's a 'frameserving file.'
    3) An AVISynth script file is made that inludes the D2V file. The avisynth file is also a frameserving file.
    4) The AVISynth file is loaded in CCE, and CCE encodes the MPV file/s.

So in fact everything that goes into CCE is frameserved from the VOB files. You can't erase/move them until the MPEG/s are encoded.

I would suggest either clearing space on your HD, or buying a 2nd one. 40-60GB HD are very cheap (www.pricewatch.com)

  5. Peaceb,
if you want to do it manually, using dvd2avi encoded each vob separately, that way when you are done encoding say vts_01.vob you can move on to vts_02.vob, and delete the first vob. Its not always an exact fit though. Say for example, 1.vob,2,3 and 4.vob won't necessarily
fit two cds, etc. so be forewarned that only sometimes it works. I did Next Friday this way, and after cutting the credits, it works.

If u want to use dvd2svcd, and free up space try deleting the bbmuxed_filename.mpg or the filename.mpv files. I cant recall the order off hand, but i think it goes
    rip, dvd2avi, cce (or tmpgenc), filename.mpv, filename_pulldown.mpv (if it encodes progressive), bbmpg_muxed-filename.mpg, cd_image_file1.bin/cue, cd_image_file2.bin/cue,
and/or you can skip making images as well.

On occasion when i use my spare system (only 18 gigs hd total 14 available), i delete the vob's once the mpv's are done, and delete the mpv's once the bbmpg_muxed files are done, cuz the images, i believe are made from these bbmpg files. Hope that helpz.

  7. Like 2Man said,
dvdx is the easiest to use. ripp to the hard drive or encode from the dvdrom. If you are going to use dvdx, from my tests, version 15 (or 15A), is the probably the better one for svcd'ing. Even if you use all the high settings and wait the three days it takes dvdx to encode, the quality won't be near what it will be if you use cce and Dvd2Svcd...
