I used to have a pretty solid setup with my old Canon HV30 and iMovie HD but my HV30 died and I had to switch to AVCHD in order to stay with Canon. I am so lost on the workflow to use!
I am recording that weird 30p in a 60i container because the camcorder won't do native 30p? I have no idea why they did this. I have tried to import into iMovie at full resolution but adding transitions de-interlaces my entire project.
Then I bought Premiere Elements 10 in hopes of an easier workflow but I have no idea what option to choose as the project type and more than that, I was greatly disappointed to find that it has export options for iPad and iPhone but NOT AppleTV which is where I keep my entire library. Any export settings I have tried compress my video and makes it look bad. I've used a high bitrate, etc but no luck. One encode I used such a high bit rate iTunes refused to even import it.
I'd appreciate any guidance to nail down a workflow that I can document for editing/exporting my video. I'm so sad my mini-DV Canon died and am having a really hard time getting good quality AFTER processing/editing from my new camera. I'm sure it's me!
