I'm putting out the feelers for recommendations on good capture cards that will run under Windows 2000.
I currently have an 8meg AIW-Pro which is wrapper limited to only VCD resolution (352x288) under Windows 2000.
Using a WDM capture utility (iuVCR mainly, as well as the buggy MMC) I can select larger resolutions. I am trying for 720x480 at least.
Are there other cards that work with VfW drivers that will allow higher capture resolutions under Windows 2000.
The ones I have looked at are mainly newer AIW cards, and the Huppauge WinTV cards.
I really enjoy using Vdub for my caps, and since most of them have been VHS archives, the resolution has not been a problem.
I would prefer a TV-capable card, but a composite/S-video only card will work as well. I have an extra VCR to do TV tuning.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Your budget?
As Churchill famously predicted when Chamberlain returned from Munich proclaiming peace in his time: "You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor, and you will have war." -
My budget is fairly modest. I would prefer to spend no more than $200.00 for a new card.
I would be willing to muddle around with a sub-$100 card if I had any indication that it would be *possible* to do acceptable-sized captures under windows 2000.
I did not know if the resolution limitation of my current setup (VCD PAL 352x288) was due to the card itself (with its age especially) or a limitation of the VfW/WDM wrapper that needs to be used for Vdub to work.
I've tried using WDM compliant DVR programs, the best I can do is 640x240 (that's with ATI's MMC proggie).
Ideally: if I can get a tuner card or just a plain composite/S-video capture card that will do DVD resolutions.
It needs to work under windows 2000.
I am extremely biased towards cards that work with VfW software (especially Vdub).
Can such a card be had in my price range?
thx in advance.
