  2. Hi

I was informed that wav files were 44kHz and dvd audio files needed to be 48kHz so you have to convert the wav file to 48kHz
I delved a little further and found there was a sound setup option in the Panasonic DMS-ES30V home dvd player.
It was set to BITSTREAM - I set it too its other option 'PCM' and YES the audio now plays
Bought manufactured dvd's always worked regardless of this setting.

    regards

If Pinnacle allows you to author a 'DVD-video' with 44kHZ audio then they should be shot at dawn. That is NOT part of the DVD standard. As you say, the audio MUST be 48kHZ.

So did you make a dvd or merely a video with a 44kHZ audio track and burn that to a blank dvd ?. 44kHZ PCM is the CD audio standard which would explain why your player now plays the track.

BITSTREAM should be the setting as otherwise, depending on your overall sytem, speakers etc. you would not get full benefit of the audio from a standard DVD.

So, to recap, to guarantee playback you author a real dvd - check 'WHAT IS a DVD' on the left of the screen from where you read this if you are not sure although ANY dvd authoring program should create a disk meeting these standards without breaking in to a sweat.
