I have the AverTV HD express- It is an Express card capture unit with Component YPbPr inputs. It will capture YPbPr just fine from my Blu ray/ DVD player but when using computer sources with DVI (sager np8131 or macbook pros with dvi out) then going to a dvi to Component converter the Aver will not see 1080i signal. It will see 1080 component signal from blu ray/ dvd player though so it does work just not coming from a dvi to component source. Those same DVI to component sources will show just fine on a 1080 hdtv with component in.. Why will that signal from the converter work fine on an HDTV, but not for the AverTV express. It flickers green now and then but will not display video. The converter is a SIIG hdmi To Ypbpr/VGA & Audio Converter..

Any help would be appreciated.

Drop the resolution from the computer's DVI output down to 720p and see what happens. A computer's video graphics adapter outputs a progressive signal at a 1920x1080 resolution, so the signal from your sager np8131 or macbook pros is 1080p. Most newer TVs can use 1080p signals but your video converter and capture device can only handle up to 1080i.
