Overwhelmed trying to read about and understand (new to me) HD video editors and technical jargon in just a few days on various forums .I went to an Canon M41 from a Sony TVR 520 D8 . I just want to record a band onstage very soon using the best possible settings. I have 32G internal and 2 Sandisk 16 MB cards installed. At the highest quality setting thats about 5 hours. Has anyone used this setup for live bands? I have the Canon SV1 mic 5.1 attached. What would be the best frame rate for picture quality?I hate to use Auto or Cinema if there are people with experience that can offer basic advise or tweaks that matter.and yes I have been reading the manual also. I have alot to learn but only days to record the show. Dealing with the resulting footage will come later. Thanks![]()

You can take audio and video separately , audio possibly directly from mix board . If you record audio directly do camcorder, you have to have both :very good microphone and a chance to manually "lock" audio level, not sure how it works with M41.

thanks for your reply. I won`t have acess to soundboard. This will be an audience type handheld recording. I thought of the H4 recorder , but opted for the M41 and the SV1 mic. Just asking if anyone has used this camcorder in this setting. Just haven`t used this camera or format before.Lots of questions Like what frame rate is best. Etc.
