I've looked at a good # of surge protectors & read what specs / manuals I could find. They're a little sketchy on some specs. Some claim certain mfgs use misleading marketing / specs.

Any ideas what good joules, clamping voltage, response time values, etc., are for phone line / coax connections?

Ones that list protection specs for phone / data (which suppose would include coax connectors), don't list same types of data as for AC line. Many mfgs - even some better known - list NO specs for phone / data protection.

Saw some Belkin packages that show 160 joules for phone line (don't mention coax connections). Obviously, that's a tiny fraction of the total joules rating & a small # compared to most protectors' overall rating.

Those models (showing 160 joules) didn't list UL 497A (for phone / data lines - which incl. cable / antenna coax). Most brands list NO joules value, clamping / let through voltage, nor response time for phone / data ports.

Warranties w/ these products give an exaggerated sense of protection. Think again if you expect to get a new TV, even if it's 1 mo old.

Thanks.
