I just discovered something weird with only the Super 8 on Blu-ray...It will not scan properly on my internal rom drives for some reason and I'm wondering if anyone else have come across the same issue. The drives just keep scanning and scanning and scanning but however this does not happen on my USB rom drive. I wonder if it is some sort of new anti PC protection?

It's not latest news. Moving you to our blu-ray ripping section.

Scan properly? You can't play it on your computer? Rip it? Or just browser the folders/files?

The scanning process just keeps cycling. It does not scan the data at all on my rom drives except for 1 which is USB and has no problem scanning and displaying the folders/files. I can rip the movie as it is currently ripping right now...but man it's gonna take 3 hours to rip which I never had this problem before when ripping Blu-ray. BTW, the disc data title says "Darlings_AC_".

Super 8 is a new release so it's always possible that they've done something new to it to try to protect it. Then again it could just be that you got a bad pressing. It's rare but it can happen. You'll need to see if others elsewhere on the internet are reporting weird problems to have an idea if it's just you or everybody with the problem.

    dvdsham,

Is it a new disc or a rental? If you bought a previously used disc, check for scratches or smudges.
    Have a good one,

I bought mine from Rogers Video here in Canada and it's brand new (no scratches nor a bad press seeing that it work on my Blu-ray USB ROM...well I got it ripped and that's the main thing. No problems playing the files on my WDTV. All is good!

I just found out that Blu-ray movies released in Canada are exclusively to Canada. So then that would mean that new titles being pressed for Canada may contain new protections only for Canada. I think this is because our Government allows it's citizens to make backups of all copyrighted material.

    Given that
    1) The USA and Canada are both in region A for BluRay and were both part of region 1 for DVD
    2) Canada is America's bitch when it comes to copyright enforcement and is debating (if they haven't actually done it already) passing one of the strictest copyright protection measures in the world, very little of which will benefit Canada at all
I must remain skeptical of your conclusions.

@ jman98 here in Canada it is only illegal to copy a vhs movie not a DVD or Blu-ray. Also it was not illegal for Canadians to download or upload movies or music...The copyright debate here in Canada has gotten so far up in arms for the last 5 years to the point that Universal Pictures and some other studio companies have delayed new releases to Canada. If you don't believe me just search on you tube Fair Copyright for Canada where you will find hundreds of video's of our government debating copyright reform! Canada is not USA little Bit** as you put it!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TOTtnAUavDc watch that!! Copyright is still in debate!
