  1. Hi Folks,

I have a Panasonic Plasma TH-42PZ80U that I have been trying to fix for some time. The issue started the set turning and not giving any sort of picture/sound/menus at all. Solid red LED on the power switch and after about 10 minutes it would just restart. When it would initially turn on you would just see a grey flash for second on the screen and then would turn to jet black - cooling fans all running. I read somewhere that the "A" board (where all the video/audio inputs are kept) needed to be replaced. I took it to a TV Repair joint and they thought for sure it was the power supply. I found a cheap one that was fully functional, but of course it didn't change anything. So, they took my advice and put in a new "A" board (used). Now, the menus/displays come up but there's no video or audio. We tried all HDMI's, Cable inputs to no avail. One guy at the TV joint now thinks it could be the "Main" board which is pretty cheap, but I'm wondering if it could just be a bad "A" board. It seems like these "A" boards are the same for all PZ80U models.

Anyone ever hear of this issue or have any thoughts?

    Thanks!

  2. Wow - so many responses ; )

Well, I am pleased to say they took the "A" board from a 46" Panny Plasma and it's working great now. As a bonus that board had a VGA input for my pc - booyah!!!

The only thing I noticed is that the buttons for channel, volume, menu on the set itself don't do anything. the power button works though, as does the remote for the all the other functions so I'm not sure I really care.
