	perhaps
that the image is black and white
of a player's ntsc j and record on tape ntsc (american)
 ??

You need an NTSC compatible TV or monitor. An NTSC SVO-5800 will not export to PAL or PAL60 or SECAM. Recommends: Kiva.org - Loans that change lives.

My best guess is the monitor isn't NTSC compatible.

Try to capture NTSC to a computer. See if that is color.Recommends: Kiva.org - Loans that change lives.
