Hello,
So do you mod your pc case????? Do you have glowing lights and mega fans on it????? Do you have it in a wooden case??? An old clock?????
Post your mods here for all to see........
Kevin
---I don't - too much money and no benefit - though a glowing USB cable or two would be neat....![]()

Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?
-
No.
I don't see the point apart from being able to show off to some uber nerds. -

I have a chrome fan with blue LED's because it was on sale cheaper than the normal fans.
I know guy that built a mini form factor PC into a model of a Millinium Falcon and another into a model of a Enterprise, but I don't remember which Enterprise it was.
Damnit, why do I even know that there are different Enterprises?
If he could have somehow worked pen and paper RPG's into these computers they would have been at a level above Uber nerd.
Ludicrous Nerd or would it be Ridiculous nerd.snappy phrase
I don't know what you're talking about. -
The only mod I have done to mine is removing the side cover to let it cool better. Does that count?

If duct tape counts, then yes.

The case I have did not need to be moded but I do have some neon's in the inside.
Pic of case.

Jeez -- I can only imagine one nerdier thing and that would be owning Starwars dolls, ummm, I mean "action figures". -
My case came pre-modded (is that really modded then?)
I never got around to installing the cold-cathode tube that came with it.
Nothing can stop me now, 'cause I don't care anymore. -
I test software and we decided the Nerdiest thing possible is playing a cross universe Star Wars and Star Trek and pen and paper RPG, while in costume. Well other than testing software.
Sadly a few of the testers got mad and started defending their pastime.
Back to the topic.
I take my case wall off to keep everything and I leave the top Optical drive bay open to use a carrying handle.
I would never mod my PC for looks.
I was reading Maximum PC the other day and looking at the fancy modded PC and I thought...
This is just like Lowrider Magazine, except there isn't girls with big butts bending over the modded PC's
I want to put Hydrualics on my PC and submit to Lowrider. Maybe they will give it a pictorial with one of the girls.snappy phrase

Mine come with a side and top window. I've installed blue LED case fans in because they are cheaper (somehow) than black ones. Plus, it is nice to see inside the machine. You can spot the smoke quicker.
I've also installed a couple of switches on a spare 5 1/4" bay so I can turn some fans off and keep it quiet.
No serious mods then, just practical ones. -
It's really funny you should bring up this subject. I'm working on a modification right now. When I'm done, it should look something like this(only smaller):
Actually, I placed an APPLE decal on my PC. It's to remind me of my first computer an APPLE II+. 48K RAM, One 5 1/4" floppy, no HDD, 300 baud modem, and uppercase was standard - I had to make a custom mod to get lower case letters. When I upgraded to 64K RAM & a second floppy, I thought I was in heaven! -
I think modding your PC tower is crossing the line between computer geek and Uber Nerd.

<dude, you should check out my new system. 64 bit AMD in a metalic blue box, I put neon blue ground FX on it, chromed out the fans and mounting brackets. Wirebraided power and monitor cables, illegally tinted side panels, replaced the stock power button spring with a heavy duty offroad suspension system. Put a Mickey Thompson softrubber compound track ball in my mouse, It's bad dude, you should check it out.>

I do have a full side case window that also came with the case. I actually like having it so I can keep an eye on the status indicators on the motherboard as well as the CPU fans' status.
Actually I was thinking of getting a three switch plate for my remaining 3.5" slot to turn on the front LEDs, add a blue glowstrip around the inside edge, and add a bright blue LED somewhere else inside also all controlled by the switches. LEDs draw next to no power, the light strip draws far less than any cold cathode, and I don't have to worry about ruining the lighting. Dunno why I'd do it other than to turn the crap on when I go to a LAN party or something. Or if I need to light up the room in an eery blue lightFB-DIMM are the real cause of global warming -
When I was still using an AT type case, I drilled a hole in it and mounted in a ps/2 connector for a mouse. Does that count?

The closest I've done is just spending a long time wrapping all my cables and securing them to the sides of the case. My case did come with a side window though.
I never understood why people install temperature gauges. In my opinion, its either overheating or its fine. -
Case? What case?
I have a bunch of parts laying about the table, with cables attached in various positions.
Here's a mod!

Nope and personally I'm sick of a window being on every decent looking case out there. Also I've noticed in the last year the trend of better looking cases has turned into dumber looking ones instead.

case modding is just a subsitute for geeks who can't afford car modding like in The Fast & The Furious movies
case modding might impress your geeky mates but it's not really going to impress the women is it or get you laid? LMAO
