  1. I am new to capturing with the Aver capture card but it seems to me when I capture with it, the resulting MPEG 2 files cannot be used with any of my programs. the files do not register with any Mpeg repair programs as well. But the thing is I can convert the files using a converting program and the files are then useable on my video editing programs, Sony Vegas, media studio pro 8 ect. I would like to prevent having to capture then converting the file due to the fact you loose a bit ever time you compress the files. Tried using Amarec Tv 2.10 but I cannot get it to output mpeg 2 files as I cannot get it to recognize the mpeg 2 codec as a usable file output type

Open one of the problem capture files using MediaInfo. Use the text view option and post the result so we can see what you have.

You are probably better off using paid software for MPEG-2 capture because there are not many MPEG-2 VFW compressors, particularly free ones, available for the better-known free capture programs. Older versions of ffdshow have a VFW MPEG-2 encoder (rev.3631 dated Nov 15 2010 was supposedly the last one) but I can't say if it is any good. (After installing ffdshow, use the Update Codec List button on the Recording Tab to fill the codec list. The MPEG-2 encoder would be found under FFDS.) There are no other free VFW MPEG-2 encoders that I know of, except for a couple that only use I-Frames, but that is not the kind of MPEG-2 encoding that most people are looking for.

It has been a while since I tried recording with AmaRecTV, but think it always uses an .avi container. Changing the audio and video to a .mpg container should be quick if you use the right conversion program, since there would be no encoding.

Try running HDTVtoMPEG on those mpegs which are .ts first then try opening the resulting file in your programs.

Aver Media Center Mpegs not use .TS , its .MPG only.

RIPBOT264 is the unny encoder working with AMC files. Not problem in sound or lag.
