  1. Hi all,

I have downloaded a movie file from the internet. Format of the file is AVI, with dimensions: 640x272, FPS: 23,97, NTSC Film

Within VirtualDub, I add subtitles to this file and frameserve it.

When I then use TMPGEnc to convert this file to MPEG, to put it on a
(S)VCD (PAL 16:9), the preview window looks OK: subtitles are readible and the aspect ratio of the film is in tact.

After burning the MPEG to a CD with NERO and play this CD in my stand-alone DVD player (PAL Europe), on the sides of the screen I have lost a part. This is particulary visible, as the first few letters of the subtitle (left aligned) are lost. I have tried about any parameter setting in both VDub and TMPGEnc, but can't figure out the right combination

Can anyone help me out and provide me with the correct settings to use in both VirtualDub and TMPGEnc to encode this 640x272 NTSC Film with subtitles to (S)VCD format PAL 16:9. Of course, I do want to keep the aspect ratio.

    Thanks in advance,
    Klara

  3. I have tried that, but still can't figure out the right combination of settings. Very frustrating...

I can hardly imagine that this is such a hassle, but then again, I still haven't got it working.

So if any one of you guru's out there can hook me up with the settings to use, I'd appreciate it.
