  1. This is my first time experimenting with video cds of any sort and this site has been more than helpful so far. I have 4 mpeg-2 files that are very high quality. I want to burn them to a cd so I can watch them in my dvd player (Panasonic DVD-CV51). However, when I made them into SVCDs they played extremely choppy (apparelntly the player is not 100% compatible with SVCD). So now I'm thinking I should try VCD. My only question is what can I do to minimize the loss of quality in converting from mpeg-2 to mpeg-1. OR, if anyone knows a method for getting SVCDs to play in my dvd player (perhaps a specifice brand of cd-r/cd-rw?) Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

  2. for svcd try using cbr and lowering the bitrate. i had the same problem with svcds on my dvd player and this worked. for some reason my player cant handle a bitrate over 2000. so i usally set it to 1950. the quality is still very good.

  3. I have a Panasonic DVD-CV51 and I have exactly the same problem when I try to play SVCD's that I make, VCD works fine. Could you tell me if the tip about cbr and reducing the bitrate worked so I can try it. Thanks for any help you can offer.
