  1. I am tired and fed up now with the ripping from DVD because none of the programs work I used.

    1.
    Tried DVD2SVCD with cinemacraft 2.64.
Ripping went fine. Second step converting avi went fine. Extracting audio went fine BUT then when converting the audio with the BeSweet the system hangs after a while.

    2.
Tried MovieJack on my 2 Systems
on my 2nd it hang up immediately. On my 1st it went fine up to the half and then hang up also.

3.Tried DVDx frameserving to TMPGenc Plus
Frameserving started ok. When TMPGenc gets the frameserv it hangs up with an error order blabla.

4.Tried DVDx frameserving to CCE 2.64
Frameserving started ok. When CCE starts the 2nd pass it quits.

5.Tried DVDx frameserving to LSX 3.5
Frameserving started ok. LSX finishes ok but when mutliplexing it hangs.

5 Programs! all of them hang up. What the heck is wrong. Can somebody give me some tweaking what am I doing wrong?

    My 2 Systems

Athlon XP 1900+ with 768Megs DDR Ram and 512megs SDRam (both CRUCIAL).
Both with Windows XP and one also with 98.
Both have IBM HDs and Nvidia Mx400

Can it be that my Athlons dont work properly? Or do I have to make some special settings for the Athlons?

PLease help me as I want a working setup to make SVCDs

    Thank you

  2. Look at my post in the Newbie Column, titled FLAWLESS DVD TO SVCD. There are also a couple of replies there.

I had similar problems and I probably tried all programs/combos possible. The catch is that some versions of some programs will always hang up/crash when used with certain plugins, etc (i.e. this is true for DVDx 1.8a and Panasonic plugin, etc), while other versions will work just fine (i.e. DVDx 1.6 and most plugins, etc).
In fact - and I'm really not discovering America here - the best solution is a fresh, clean install of windoze and keeping a number of different programs installed to absolute minimum. It was true for both my PIII and Athlon XP running Windows ME. Some programs which were a damn headache started to behave very nicely when installed on a fresh system. The problem is that not many people can afford to keep one comp always clean an uncluttered with hordes of utilities, games, etc...

  4. these all in one programs may be good for newbies and beginners...but if you really want flexibility and control...

use the time-tested method of smartipper/dvddecryptor--->dvd2avi--->tmpgenc...

if you need subtitles...u can either use flask or virtual dub/vob sub

  5. Wow.

I think I´ve got it. I know what it was. Oveclocking!!!. My two CPUs are both slightly overclocked 1800+ to 1900 but I didnt know that it could be such a negative effect on those programs. I use very cpu intensitive tasks and they didnt complain yet but those Video things are very sensitive it seems.

    There you go.
