-I had posted a thread a couple of days back I tried everything but ultimately couldn't proceed with premiere pro......as my file is giving memory error even with new processor, hard drive and increased RAM,seems as if there is some problem with the file, some bug or something.....

-anyways now it's been a month struggling with that project and so I have decided to convert all the 400 files to AVI ........

[FILES are :- DVD "VOB" format,mpeg-2 program stream,1 video 1 audio,720*576,average bitrate - 8753 and frame rate is 25 frames......]

I have been suggested to used panasonic codec, lagarith, cedocida, main concept, field delay etc.with virtual dub.......

    1) how to install 'field delay' in virtual dub as I'm getting gitter lines in the project on movement ........there is only a .vdf file in the field delay folder...........how to install this

    2) Is there a way in virtual dub such that on batch job conversion the names of the files remain the same besides the extensions....??? When I tried job conversion I realised you have to name every file all over again.....

    3) the best conversion I get from mpeg2 to DV AVI is in premiere pro itself that is to drag Mpeg2 to the timeline and render it to DV AVI and it gets re imported to the same project automatically but is there a way to 'batch convert' all the files individually in premiere pro....or any of its sub plugins or softwares using its inbuilt codecs.......?

plz help it's the end of the world for me.....

    - i see no reason to convert 400+ files to AVI and loose quality.

    - simply demux VOB to m2v+audio by using pgcdemux or dgindex ,
and import m2v in Adobe Premier.
-if you need audio as well then convert vob to mpg with a tool like vob2mpg

Hope same will serve your purpose.

You guys are masterminds......Bonie 81 thanks I'm trying that, and will get back to tell you the result........
one solution that I think I found is to use Cidocida dv codec in virtual dub with an aspect ratio of 16:9 to convert mpeg2 to AVI with same aspect ratio............

    Yes Bonie,
I tried vob2mpg but it only imports DVD format and these files are recorded on a sony handycam and are mpeg 2 files which it doesn't import.......
I get the best conversion from mpeg2 to dv avi.........in Premiere Pro so I thought of using Adobe media encoder cs4 for the same but this again doesn't import Mpeg 2 files
    SO again the problem remains...........

See the most successful way of getting DV AVI is to import every clip in premiere (which I'm able to do after installing the trial version of mainconcept codec) drag it on the timeline and render it to DV AVI then I can import these files to edit in premiere and expect to avoid low memory errors...........but doing this with 400 files seems impossible so is there a way to convert so many mpeg 2 files to DV AVI

    1) Isn't there an advanced version of adobe media encoder that accept latest HD handycam's mpeg files...........??? Is there any way to make adobe media encoder cs4 accept these mpeg2 files

    2) Is there a way to make a macro......or a software to design a macro to choose every file from a folder, import in premiere pro, drag it on time line and render in a seperate folder as DV AVI for all the 400 files........ha ha this sounds like a fantasy but is it possible........????

  5. Maybe something is wrong with your install or a limitation of trial version. CS4 imports mpeg2 natively without 3rd party plugins

Or maybe somthing is peculiar about your camcorders files? maybe post a sample

Or maybe you could use ffmpeg bat file to batch encode to DV-AVI
