is that sick or what? a i5 2500K for $150?!? Jagabo has to be kicking himself right now, LOL.

seriously, Intel must expect Bulldozer to be a bear of a cpu in the sub $200 price point. can't wait to see the benchmarks.

I only paid $30 more, 2 months ago. That looks like normal quarterly price reductions to me.

    Yep!!

I can't wait for the new bulldozer to be released as my new 6 core system will run the new 8 core cpu's so i may be buying the biggest one straight off and swapping it out with my current 6 core cpu

which motherboard do you have that supports BD?

edit: if you do remember to run some before and after tests and post the results.

    Gigabyte ga-990fxa-ud3 am3+

From what i have found and read i was under the impression that it will run the new bulldozer cpu's.

But i guess until they are actually released anything is possible.

The next mobo up but basically the same thing.

Mine just runs 2 cards in SLI where the vid i linked to runs 3 cards in SLI but i will probably never run 3 so i opted for the UD3, plus a couple of other reasons.

  6. Yeah I am sure they are going to be great. The current Phenom II X6 cpu's are monsters for encoding h264, I can only imagine how much better the Bulldozer 8 core cpu's will be for encoding!

Microcenter is not a reliable indicator of pricing trends. They lure people in with their low CPU prices and combo deals in hopes that the customers will buy more. I went there once earlier this year and bought a 2600K and two Lian-Li A77 cases for cheap. They tried to sell me more, but their prices on other things are not that great. I'm pretty sure that they lost money on me that day.

That said, I do hope that BD is a strong performer. I plan to upgrade my old P4 home server soon, and I'm leaning heavily towards BD.
