I´ve been using VirtualDub for adding subtitles to my movies, and everything was fine, but i have encountered some problems with a few movies like HIGHLANDER special edition director´s cut, or Moby Dick with Patrick Stewart, in this two cases, the subtitles appear on the movie like 20 minutes Out of synch. What could be happening?
I´ve ripped like 40 movies all with subtitles and all of them are in perfect conditions, but in this two particular cases, i can´t get to syncronize the subtitles with the audio... do you have any idea of why is this happening?, or better yet... do you know how to correct this things when it will happen again?.
My whole process is SmartRipper > DVD2AVI > VFApi >VirtualDub > TMPGenc
:o Help!

How do you rip the subtitles?
Which subtitle filter do you use? -
I forgot to tell you!
I used VirtualDub to extract the subtitles (from the .ifo) and create a frameserver, i use the filter VobSub 2.09
It works great, it´s just this two particular cases i´ve found so far.
If you know something, help would be appretiated. -
It might be a hard way, but you can use SubResync to adjust the timecode of every single subtitle. Subresync comes with vobsub 2.09.

try using Flask to add your subs...
i had to use that when virtual dub/vob sub wouldn't extract the subs at all from Bridget Jones's Diary -
Thanks to all for your advice, i will try them all.
I´ve found something VERY VERY interesting and similar in these two movies i´m talking about.
I´ve already told you the sequence and the tools i use for encoding my movies... now...
I ripped them using SmartRipper, like i said before, i have encoded about 50 movies at this time and i have always done the same thing (in SmartRipper), selected ALL the chapters and cells, and everything was ok.
In this two movies, using the very same settings of all the other movies, once i gave up and decided to encode them WITHOUT the subtitles, i was stunned when i found that it ripped and encoded the movies VERY differently... i will explain it better...
The movie started without any sound, and the beginning video was from the middle of the movie, then it runned like 20 minutes, then followed the beginning of the movie, a few minutes of the beginning without sound, and then the sound started, but TOTALLY OUT OF COORDINATION!.
My head is steaming... i have no idea of what to do... all that i can hear inside my brain at this time is (...cricket....cricket.....)
Any suggestions?
Has anybody ever tried to encode one of these two movies?
S.O.S.
