Hi all, I recently updated to the latest version of VidCoder (1.4.16 Beta) and my problem is that it simply will not encode my videos to H.264.

The option is there of course, but whenever I select it, it encodes instead to mpeg-4. I've tried with a few different source files and the result is always the same. I use the MKV container and set the codec to H.264 and when I check the file with MediaInfo after it has finished encoding, it always tells me that it is mpeg-4 visual, rather than H.264...

I never had this problem with the older versions and I'm thinking of just trying to find a link to download an older version, but first I just want to know if this is happening to anyone else.

It's a shame really because I really like this program.

    Thanks in advance.

EDIT: I've also tried selecting the mpeg-4 codec just to see if it would encode to h.264 instead, but it doesn't, it still encodes to mpeg-4.

i just ran a test and the latest vidcoder beta is using the x264 encoder to create the mp4 or mkv here.

hmm.. That's not what I get at all. I used to get results like that with the old versions though.

Perhaps I should try re-installing it?

Also, are you using version 1.4.16? Because that is the latest version, and I noticed that the latest download link on this site is actually for a much older one.
