I use the Hauppauge PVR to record tv shows from satellite in M2TS format. Been using Freemake Video Converter to change that file to an avi file. Although freemake allows me to cut portions of the video out, it tends to freeze up on me. I was thinking of using Tssniper to trim out the unwanted portions of the video ( i.e. Commercials) and then using freemake to convert the file. Does that sound like a reasonable idea or would i be better ofF forking over money and getting Video Redo.

Try the beta of videoredo. If it works perfect then use it. If not then use tssniper and and any converter. Maybe latest avidemux(or beta) has some m2ts support, edit and convert directly to avi.
