  1. Hi all,
I have successfully converted several BDs over to DVD format single layer using BD Rebuilder but it takes from
    3 to 4 hours.
Is there are program that does a decent job of doing this, maybe much quicker.
Really I am hoping for a down and dirty conversion, it doesn't have to be pristine.
Perhaps someone has timed various progs completing this task, that could be helpful.

And you are unable to do this while you sleep and thus won't care how long it takes because...????

  3. Bulldozer will do this in 50% of the time it takes any I7 .. or go six core AMD if you cant afford the $300 for proper Bulldozer.
Corned beef is now made to a higher standard than at any time in history.
The electronic components of the power part adopted a lot of Rubycons.

  4. Hmmm, both of your answers really have nothing to do with the original post.
So I suppose both of you have no knowledge that is helpful.
This forum is called videohelp and I have consulted here for years without making a post.
And there are some very knowledgeable and helpful here that I respect.
jman, it should be quite obvious, if I have 10 to convert, then that is 40 hours.
    What if I have 20 or 40?
Rabiddog, if I wanted to find out how to build the most powerful computer, I would have asked, don't you think?

So does anyone else have a clue?

Try setting the encoding output to 720p instead of 1080p.

I don't have the time savings for BD Rebuilder but with Ripbot using 720p cuts the time in half.

  6. If you are looking for quality then BD Rebuilder is the way to go. If you are looking for speed and don't care about sacrificing quality then take a look at VSO Blu-ray Converter or DVDFab Blu-ray to DVD.

  7. Thanks HemLok and Megahurts.
Since I have dvdfab already I used it on 2 movies and it took approx. 55 minutes per movie.
Haven't yet viewed them as I had other work to do.
Hemlock, which one of the 2 do you think would do the better job Dvdfab or VSO?
Megahurts, I suppose you were thinking I was going to dvd bd single layer?
At any rate, thanks for the suggestion, if I ever decide to do go that route, I will give your method a try.

You didn't say that at all or even hint at that in your original post. If you expect us to read your mind you need to go elsewhere.

Why convert BR to DVD? The movie is available on DVD. The only solution to faster BR conversion is a faster CPU. You could try CQ single pass instead of two pass in BDrebuilder.

  10. Haha, lol, I plan on staying now.
Perhaps you took the post the wrong way.
    Let's forget about it.

Thanks for the suggestion Wulf109, I'll give the single pass a try.

  11. To answer Steve(MS), I've used both programs and I've found that VSO Blu-ray Converter was not very good quality-wise, IMHO. Blacks were blocky. I recently converted Sucker Punch (BD) to DVD-5 with DVDFab Blu-ray to DVD. What I found was that blacks didn't stay black. They were more gray. One might say the blacks were crushed. This conversion was a test I performed out of curiosity. I believe it took in the area of 1 hour and 15 minutes to do the conversion with DVDFab. I did not sit and watch the entire movie after the conversion but from what I saw the latest DVDFab is better at converting to DVD-5 than the VSO program. Both had issues I didn't much like but they both worked. In the end, as I noted before, I believe that BD Rebuilder is the best option but it will take longer.

Lastly, time and time again I see threads like this where someone asks for help converting a Blu-ray to DVD. Time and time again someone throws out the "Why do you want to do that?" line. People do have reasons for what they are asking when they ask a question. It's nice when someone actually answers the question.

  12. Exactly my sentiment, if someone asks a question here, it is because they don't know the answer.
After torturing google quite a bit, I couldn't find where anyone had remarked about processing time IRT.
So I asked my question and instead of kindly explaining anything, I get answers that weren't at all in my original post.
I had very carefully worded my post in order hopefully to gather info that anyone who would want to contribute could give reply.
I already realized from reading all I could here and elsewhere that likely BD rebuilder was the best for this kind of job yet I was
looking for a "DOWN AND DIRTY" conversion....hence my post.

On the other side of this I realize that many pose questions here that actually don't word their post right and don't have any
clue on how to approach what they are doing hence frustration is caused to the generous folks offering their time and knowledge.

On another forum unrelated to video, I offer help to those seeking answers and always try to help them (like not killing the thread)
so the person is satisfied that at least some of his questions are answered and direction can be discerned.

Again thanks HemLock, I used DVDFab to convert 2 movies last night.
I'll sit back and watch them then decide if it is good enough for a "down and dirty" conversion.
