  1. I have a bunch of AVI episodes of a television series I wish to burn for my mom preferably each file as chapter preferably, quality is not important she still has a tube tv.

What's the most automated-hands off piece of software I can get for this task? commercial or free.

AVStoDVD, DVD Flick, Freemake Video Converter

Freemake is the fastest and simplest, AVStoDVD produces the highest quality. All three are fee.

Simpler to get her a DVD player that plays AVI files and just burn them as data.

I just switched from DVDFlick to AVStoDVD because Flick's audio was always out of sync with the video. Also, Flick's forum has been offline for some time; I wonder if it's even supported anymore? I'm very happy with AVStoDVD's ease of use, and results. And it's FREE!
