    Hi everyone.

I have not long ago bought a HD camera, Canon HF S10. Im having some difficulties getting the files converted with good video quality and correct framerate.

I have testet with sony vegas, when i use the standard dvd template to render, the video quality is horrible compared to how a dvd is suppose to look, but when i try to tweak the template, the quality is still horrible with framerate messed up. I know im doing something wrong.

Now i have tried the trail version of, NewBlue AVCHD UpShift, to convert files to mpeg2, and i was amazed how good the quality was compared to sony vegas.

    http://www.newbluefx.com/avchd-upshift.html

Now if the price would have been cheaper i would have probably consider buying it, but come on, almost 80$ for a software that only does is convert.

I was wondering, is there any other free solution which does a similar job, with similar good quality.

    or

If anyone knows any good setting on sony vegas to use, so that avchd footage can be converted to dvd with good quality, im all ears. There is definitively a difference between sony vegas and newblue's avchd upshift in video quality. i'll post a link later with video footage converted with sony vegas and avchd upshift to mpeg2(dvd) format to compare.

    Thanks in advance.

It would be helpful to know what the error messages say, as these are probably the best quality alternatives. You could try XmediaRecode or Freemake Video Converter instead.
