  1. I have recently purchased a 3d tv with 3d blue ray player which plays many formats. When a 3d BRD is played the player recognizes 3d content automatically. But when I encode any video thro vegas and convert it to 3d and put it to pen drive, it plays the file but does not recognise as 3d. Is there any special method for this?

  2. a. might be that the player only supports 3D if it comes from a disc or is in a specific container (in example m2ts)
    b. might be that the 3d content needs to be in specific format (mvc,sbs,...)
have you tested the content in a 3D software player?

  3. It is mpeg 2 file in the pen drive. The player does not play m2ts file if put externally. It accepts this file only thro' BRD

BTW if this is the perticular file format requirement , is there any way to overcome this?

First of all, what does the video look like when played on the TV? And how is the video encoded? Side-by-side, top-bottom, etc.? And is the pen drive connected to the tv or the blu-ray player?

My Vizio 3D tv needs to be set manually when I play a homemade 3D Blu-ray disc. Take a look at the menus for your tv and check into how to manually set your tv for the 3D content you are trying to view. I have never tried to play a 3D encoded FILE directly, so I cannot tell you whether that figures into any of this.

  5. H.264 MVC is the format that Blu-ray 3d content is normally saved, depending on the player it might accept it.
As far as I know MPEG-2 doesn't offer any extra 3D format like MPEG-4 AVC MVC does, so unless your player let's you manually choose one way or the other to assume a video is in specific format, you are probably in a dead end with MPEG-2.

I'm not sure that this is what the OP is facing, but I'll point it out in case it helps others. My 3D BluRay player chokes and dies on anaglyph content. The only way I can get that to play is through my DVD player.

  7. well, my tv has got manual mode so still i can view the 3d content by selecting the manual 3d mode of tv. That can be done by directly conncting the pen drive to tv also. But if i play 3d BRD the player detects that this is 3d format and asks if you want to play in 3d or 2d and if you select 3d then it automatically selects the side by side mode and starts playing with manual selection of side by side. This does not happen with pen drive connected to player.

Also my tv plays only stereoscopic files. ( I do not have anaglyph glasses to test )

This is incorrect. All TVs are capable of displaying anaglyph files. Anaglyph technology is old and low tech, but on the plus side it requires absolutely nothing special from a TV itself to work. I assure you that your TV can display anaglyph files if you can find a device that is able to send them correctly to the TV.

What you mean to say is that you have no way to test anaglyph files and that you are not using anaglyph.

Sounds like you are simply facing a limitation with the USB part of your BD player. Be aware that some BD players are not capable of playing files at all through their USB connectors and those are only meant to be used for firmware updates. Or it may be that your player can play files through the USB connector, but just not 3D files of any type.
