sorry if already posted,
I have the following mediainfo output and would like to know if there is information contained here that will confirm that the source is blu-ray.
thnx

you can't ever confirm a downloaded file's source.

ok - thnx. I was hoping that certain of the specs would be obvious fingerprints of the source.

Nope and the bit rate is way too low for Blu-Ray.
You could take any SD source and convert it to those specs.
What are you expecting from a 1280x720 24p file? And why is it 24 fps and not 23.976?Recommends: Kiva.org - Loans that change lives.

Most likely the source is BluRay, but nobody here is going to guarantee you that it would be impossible to generate a similar file from a standard definition source. Since we didn't do the conversion and only have some information about the final result all we can do is guess. It would not be logical to take a standard def source and turn it into a file like you have, but it's not IMPOSSIBLE to do that. If you can't accept the reality of the situation then you need to contact whoever made the file and quiz them about it. But unless you watch that person make it you'll just be taking their word for it.

great reply jman98, thnx! Obviously a guarantee cannot be offered and I was never expecting one. Also, I agree about the illogicallity of the scenario you describe. With all the blu-ray rips available and being touted, I am sure most sources are sincere in their claims. I was hoping that the mediainfo data would provide certain markers I could use in a quick eval. Many attach a small sample along with the main title and these usually provide me additional assurance. So can you or someone identify which specific specs gave you an impression that this file's source was blu-ray?
Of course, the viewing would be the final determination, yes/no?

The Width and Height values under the Video section are high definition values. I've seen plenty of BluRay sources resized down to this resolution. Again, you could always resize up from standard definition video, but the quality would suffer and you'd definitely be able to see it.

IMHO it isn't the source that matters it is all about how it looks onscreen.
If I'd known I was going to live this long, I'd have taken better care of myself. -
Interesting and true, to a point. I was recently quite disappointed when I grabbed the blu-ray 'Terminator' at a bargain-basement price, only to discover that it was no better (actually I think it was worse) than an old 'deluxe/re-mastered/re-release/re-whatever' version I have. And on the other side of the coin, I am very impressed with some titles that are just awesome compared to their non-br predecessors.
