Just guessing here but don't you have to plug the HDMI cable into a HDMI port on the TV. At least that is the way it works on my TV.

I am assuming you meant computer's DVI out to the TV's HDMI in and that you have a DVI to HDMI cable connected properly.
Is the TV set to the correct input?
What resolution is the computer sending? You need to be using a compatible resolution. Check your TV's manual to be sure. You probably will want to go with the highest resolution your TV can handle. HD is 1920 x 1080.
