At the moment im using
Blackmagic Intensity shuttle
AVT 8710
Adobe Prem CS5.5
It has been suggested to capture the video8 and VHS tapes with Largarith instead of exporting and compressing later.
Can i do this with Adobe? At the moment i can only find Largarith in export...
If not
what programs to people use? Will they work with the BM shuttle?
Thanx

I don't know if it will work with the BM card, but you could try VirtualDub if Lagarith is listed there in 'Video>Compression' as installed. Use 'File>Capture AVI'.

Lagarith is a bit slow. Huffyuv is faster and compresses a bit less but was designed with real-time capture in mind. Both are favorites. With huffytuv you have to capture initially in YV12 or YUY2 (the latter is preferred). Lagarith can capture RGB, but after capture you can convert to RGB and re-compress with either huffyuv or Lagarith.
Both compressors work with VirtualDub capture, but VDub has problems with some cards. Won't know until you try. If you don't see huffyuv in Adobe, it's likely because huffyuv isn't installed on your copmputer.Last edited by sanlyn; 20th Mar 2014 at 17:39.
