Hello. Topic might sound noobish, but Im experienced with ffdshow a lot. I just got one issue atm. I changed from ffdshow_rev3882_20110613_clsid (also had x64 version) to ffdshow_rev3892_20110620_clsid and after that to ffdshow_rev3904_20110623_clsid. Last 2 revisions when I encode avchd video with avchdcoder (settings are as they were with first revision, havent touched them) it takes nearly 2-4 hours longer to complete encoding than with first revision. Do I miss something special if I roll back? What others are using that are encoding video to bd5/bd9? I see no picturequality differences between the revision, atleast my eyes cant tell that. But I liked that encoding took 4-6 hours, now it takes 8 up to over 10 hours which is little too much for me. I'd appreciate a lot if someone could enlighten me. Thanks in advance!

I suppose you know that AVCHDCoder has a preferred version of ffdshow? (And have you used the in-built tester which confirms whether the version you're using will work with the program?) Meaning the author has tested it with his program. If you use a different version and ask for support, you'll be ignored. Same goes for BDRB. All the freeware BD to BD programs seem to be touchy as to which version of ffdshow is used.
And no, you're not really missing anything by not always having the latest version available.
That said, other versions may or may not work on your particular computer. When I switched to Win7, I found that the v.3326 recommended by jdobbs (BDRB) fouled up a couple other programs I use regularly. I can't for the life of me remember now which ones they were.
Anyway, I'm using version 3825 right now, and everything works okay. I see no significant speed advantage over my XP configuration. One exception: extraction time is much faster, but that has nothing to do with ffdshow, it must be something in Win7.
Good luck.
[EDIT] I just double-checked and the version recommended now by jdobbs is v.3882. You might try going back to that one.Last edited by fritzi93; 27th Jun 2011 at 14:56.

Thx for answer! Yes, I rolled back to ffdshow that avchdcoder's own installer "in application" offers, that is rev 3760. As far as I understood clsid (one of the modificators for tryout builds for ffdshow) usually tweaks something when he updates the revision, so I had vision that the newer rev would always be little better than older. Stability issues I havent had since windows 7 x64 install bit over year ago.

I recall reading something jdobbs wrote that stuck with me, and I'm paraphrasing: Developing software is a process of trying to improve one thing, whereupon other things get broken. Then one has to fix the problems to make the program stable again. Then you make another improvement which breaks things again.
I think the development of ffdshow has probably been much the same. I don't mind upgrading, but I'll usually let others do some testing first for stability with various programs.
I've been using ffdshow since it came out several years ago, and it has been improved a lot. And I'm grateful for all the free/open source programs available to us.Pull! Bang! Darn!
