Fake malware popup creators caught

I've seen this scam a couple of times and know a few people who bought into it after these programs told them they had various malware on their PCs and these people had software to fix it. I knew it was a scam, but a lot of people didn't.

I can't remember what type of malware but I read something about it on cnet the other month.
