Just narrowing down my list for a new bluray player to replace my PS3. I don't really play many games so, the lack of NTSF, MKV, Multiregion, and now Cinavia has pushed me towards getting a regular DLNA Bluray player and possibly a WD Media Plus.
Basically, looking for MKV, hopefully NTSF, no forced firmware updates (which eliminated Sony, thanks for the info on another thread I posted) ethernet for streaming from the PC (wired so no need for WiFi) and USB (prefer 2 ports back/front). If does a good enough job I can eliminate the need for the WD player (wanted it for my 2TB external, ISO, VOB and MKV playback). Eventually I want all my movies, avi and dvd on an external, hence the VOB/ISO desire... still need a player for rentals.
Anyways, looking at (in order)
- Samsung BD-D5300 (potential multiregion hack, can't confirm for Canada)
- LG BD640c
- Panasonic DMP-BD75
- Toshiba BDX1200
Does anyone have any feedback/advice about these players or maybe a player I overlooked? I'm in Canada, likely buying from BestBuy/Futureshop... nothing via mail since if it doesn't work returns are a hassle.
Thanks for any help.
