  1. Could not find and help in previous posts so need to ask for some.

    I got/downloaded a couple of VCD's and VCD images.
If i try to play the dat file from the cd it plays fine, but if i copy it to my hard drive it gives an error in Media Player 8 or the picture is green blocks with screaching sound in PowerDvd.

I want to be able to copy the dat file to my hard disk and play it from there os i can return the VCD straight away and i also wanted to be able to rip the image i downloaded to my hard drive without wasting a blank cd. I am running out and only watch it once so don't want to waste them

I have WinXP Home with Media Player 8 and PowerDvd 4.

I hope u understand what i mean and can help me get it to work.

Funny thing is i copied Resident Evil across from the cd and it worked but not if i ripped the .DAT file out of the .BIN file.

    Cheers

  2. Have you tried using VCDGear ? it works best on extracting the MPG file from just about anything, or even ISOBuster!

  3. I was using WinImage to extract the files from the .BIN file.

It seems to be the playing of them when on my HD which is the problem.
Even if i copy files fron VCD's i can play from the cd will not play when on my hard drive.

  4. I have just tried using VCDGEAR and it works now.
I had to convert the .DAT file into a .MPG file and ensure repair MPEG errors was ticked (Didnt work first time not ticked) and it played with Media player.

Cheers for the help, any idea why PowerDvd keeps closing my internet connection if i close PowerDvd down while connected to the net.

That is the next thing to sort out.

    Thanks again

  6. I have PowerDvd xp 4.0 running.

The only problem i have is if i have an open adsl internet connection and if i shut down Powerdvd it dissconnects the internet connection.

I only found out as i watch movies while i am downloading stuff and the connection dropped every time i turned off powerdvd.

  7. As I don't have ADSL, I don't know how to help you, there are however patches for PowerDVD 4.0, you might want to try updating it.

  8. I have already done the patches to powerdvd.

I played a mpg file i made with VCDGEAR and when i shut down powerdvd (Forgot not to) it didnt shut down my connection to the internet.

Not tried it since as i have been at work till now but will try it when i wake up.
I have contacter powerdvd support to see what they say, to see if anyone else has reported it or not.
Might just be me as i have had things like that.

    Cheers for ur help

Will only post again if it happens again or if support tell me there way to fix it.
