Anyone know if there are any plans for futher versions of TMPG to offer an option for up to 5-pass????
And does anyone think it will improve it? I may self am happy with 2-pass but was just wondering.

the only reason for 2 pass is that it checks the video in the first pass, sees where it can compress, and then does it in the 2nd pass. (or so i've heard)

Thats my understanding too, But why does CCE offer up to 5-pass if that is the case?

Apparently, the commercial release of TMPGEnc is structured around three different products. The higher-end, very expensive versions reportedly will allow up to 20-passes - god only knows why you would need that many.
