My friend recently downloaded a movie for me, which came in two parts. Both are filed under .mpg (MPEG). The second part came up with Windows Media Player and I clicked "Save as" made it an ".avi" file and burned it a disc with Nero's VCD option. The other half, will not open in Windows Media Player. At first, I thought it was the player, so I downloaded a few other types of media players and none of them worked. A lot of them crashed, when I opened up their large file in the application. So, I asked my friend to check the same file on his computer..and it works fine. He did say that he didn't use Windows Media player but some type of viewer from ATI which was supplied with his brand new video card.

For the time being, is their anyway my Windows Media Player (newest version) can play this? I have been to a few sites on the internet looking up information on "codecs" just about everything has been in regards to either DIVX or AVI format. Is there a way for me to scan this file to find out what type of code I need for it? I'm shocked that the newest Windows Media Player with all the new codes.. didn't do the trick.

Anyway, thanks for any help.
