I began using RealPlayer on my Win 7 with a flv download of 9 minutes. It works fine. I then copied the flv file to my XP laptop, and installed the newest RP. The video comes up fine, but there is no video shown on the screen. The time slider shows that it thinks it's showing something. Comments?

I got the video off of YouTube. It's titled "The Secret Life of Machines--The Internal Combustion Machine--Part 1. Maybe I need to run it through a converter?

My laptop was purchased in Sept. 2007. Don't see any error messages.

This seems like a low traffic forum. Maybe I can move this post elsewhere?

You need to have a Mod move a thread or it will be tagged as a cross post. I'll move you to our Software Playing forum.

Have you tried VLC for playback? I refuse to use Realplayer as it wants to take over all playback and messes up my system. That was a while ago, so I don't know if they improved that. There is Real Alternative Player if you just need RM playback and don't want the problems with Real Player.

Also, does RP work in your XP setup with other video formats? Or is it just FLV that's the problem?

OK, the move sounds right. I've used RP on the Win 7, but only when files were in its Library. I'm not familiar with VLC. Does it play flv?
